Two Farmington-area families have gone the extra mile (or inches) for a Michigan charity, Children with Hairloss. The Michigan-based organization provides custom wigs to children with any form of medically-related hair loss
Maureen McCarthy and Jennifer Franklin, along with their fourth grade daughters Lynn and Sophia, all residents of Farmington Hills, have been growing their hair to donate to the cause. Salon Legato in Farmington is supporting their efforts in the “Clip for a Cause” project.
From May 15 through July 3, Diane Cassidy, owner of Salon Legato, is providing discounted hair cuts to anyone wishing to donate their hair to Children with Hairloss. Those who are follically blessed are invited to join in supporting this worthy cause. There are several ways to participate:
- Donate hair (min. 8” length, free from chemical processes).
- Make a pledge for each inch of hair someone else donates.
- Make a cash donation directly to Children with Hairloss.
Donated hair and financial contributions will be used for manufacturing custom hairpieces. A wrap-up party, open to the community from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 8 at Salon Legato, will feature live entertainment. The donated hair and cash contributions will be presented to Children with Hairloss at the party.
For more information or to make a contribution, please visit www.ChildrenWithHairLoss.us and www.SalonLegato.com, or call Diane Cassidy at (248) 442-4999.
