St. Joseph Mercy Oakland’s (SJMO) Healthy Start/Healthy Families Oakland program will offer free workshops for new or expectant fathers.
Called Conscious Fathering, the program is designed to give new or expectant fathers the tools they need to be great fathers and real partners in caring for their babies.
Participants learn the five basic needs of the baby, helpful tips for navigating the changes in a couple’s relationship that come with the arrival of a new baby and more.
The next two-hour workshop will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, in the Franco Communications Center on the St. Joseph Mercy Oakland campus, 44405 Woodward Ave., Pontiac. Subsequent workshops will be held: Aug. 18, Sept. 15, Oct. 27, Nov. 17 and Dec. 15.
A Conscious Fathering workshop for Spanish speakers will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Franco Center. Future Spanish-language fathering workshops will be held Aug. 4, Sept. 1, Oct. 6, Nov. 3 and Dec. 1.
Participants will receive a free DVD entitled, “Happiest Baby on the Block,” and learn the latest techniques for calming babies.
