'Home is Where the Heart Is' at HAVEN's Promenade of Hope

Everyone deserves to return to a safe home each day, a home free of violence. HAVEN’s 2011 premier fundraiser Promenade of Hope, appropriately themed "Home is Where The Heart Is", is an event that celebrates survivors who live in a safe home without fear.

The May 12 event, the single largest source of revenue for HAVEN, typically raises over $225,000 and is attended by over 400 community leaders. Ticket purchases support both critical services to help survivors who are on a journey to safety and prevention programs aimed at eliminating domestic and sexual violence. All donations go directly to helping the people who need it the most – the survivors.

The 2011 event Honorary Chairs are Henry Baskin and Art Van Elslander and the co–chairs are Meg Gordy, Lori Mazurek, Deborah Roelofs and Dave Sokol. Promenade of Hope features a strolling dinner, live and silent auctions and entertainment and takes place Thursday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Art Van, 32301 N. Woodward, Royal Oak. The individual ticket price is $150. Tickets are available by phone at 248-334-1284 ext. 344.  Learn more at promenadeofhope.org

To put the benefit into perspective, one ticket to the event provides after school snacks for the children at the shelter for a week. A Bronze Sponsorship of $1,000 provides a court advocate for two children during the legal process. A Silver Sponsorship of $2,500 provides first response team members to assist 50 assault victims at the hospital. A Gold Sponsorship of $5,000 provides one year of group intervention and education on nonviolent skills for batterers.

Promenade of Hope is made possible because of support from the corporate community and sponsors at many levels including: Diamond Sponsor - Henry Baskin Family Foundation; Hosting Sponsor - Art Van Furniture; Ruby Sponsor - Huntington National Bank; Platinum Sponsors - Charter One, Ford Motor Company, Kelly Services, Towers Watson and Verizon Wireless.
