Make HAVEN Gift Giveaway donations for women, children in need

In order to make this holiday season brighter, HAVEN is soliciting gifts from the community for its 24th annual Gift Giveaway.

The Gift Giveaway program is for the families who have received HAVEN services in the past year. All the gifts are donated by the community, and families are invited to pick out a gift for each member of their family.

In years past, Gift Giveaway provided for nearly 200 families and more than 400 children. This year, calls to HAVEN are up and donations are down, so the need is even greater.

HAVEN clients are invited to pick out toys, clothes and gifts for themselves and their children. Wrapping materials are also provided for the families to add their personal finishing touches. The event is absolutely free to HAVEN clients

New, unwrapped items are to be dropped off Sunday, December 12 from 2-5 p.m., Monday, December 13 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Tuesday, December 14, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at St Paul United Methodist Church at165 East Square Lake Road Bloomfield Hills.

Most urgently needed are gifts for teenagers including clothing, games, and electronics and gift cards. Also needed are winter coats, shoes and boots for children and teens, small appliances and diapers. Toys and DVDs are encouraged as well. A complete list is available at haven-oakland.org/gift-giveaway. Financial contributions of any amount can be made online at haven-oakland.org.
