Homeward Bound Rescue League of Canton is actively seeking temporary volunteers to foster puppy mill rescue dogs and puppies starting this Wednesday, June 30.
There will be no cost to the volunteer, and volunteers must be 21 years or older.
"We are looking for people with big hearts who have a passion for dogs," says Carrie Marsh, Director of Homeward Bound. “We provide all food, vet care, crates, and the only thing we ask in return is that you provide a safe and loving home for our furbabies until they are adopted. Volunteering for an animal rescue is a very rewarding experience. What is frustrating is the fact that there are so many dogs out there that we could help, but don't have enough foster homes."
Those who would like to provide a temporary home can send an email to: homewardboundmi@yahoo.com with a phone number and the best time to call.
Those who are unable to temporary foster but would like to help may make donations through the website at hbrlmi.com. Cash donations can be made via PayPal, or choose from the "Wish List" of much needed items, such as all pet supplies, cleaning supplies or gift cards (gas cards, Target, Walmart, etc).
“If you have any items to donate, please email Homeward Bound and we will advise where they can be dropped off. You can also view photos of currently adoptable pets or download an application to adopt at the website,” says Marsh.
Adoptions are held every Saturday at Pet Supplies Plus at 43665 Ford Road, Canton, between Morton Taylor and Sheldon, on the south side of Ford Road from noon to 3:30 p.m.
Homeward Bound Rescue League is a non-profit, no-kill animal rescue organization founded in 2006. Since then, the group has placed over 1500 dogs and cats into safe and happy homes. Homeward Bound Rescue League is an entirely volunteer organization that embodies the sense of community by advocating humane and ethical principles.
