Music. Art. Film. Photography. Crafts. Installations. Comediennes. Hundreds of Ladies. Seriously...On Saturday, February 13, join women artists from across Metro Detroit for a night of music, art, and revelry at the Crofoot in Pontiac. Sixteen bands will share three stages in the Crofoot complex, including Sisters Lucas, Misty Lyn and the Big Beautiful, Lightning Love, Secret Twins, Danica Patrick, Jr.Jr. and many more.
On display will be visual art from Kate Daughdrill, Amy Kaherl, Rebecca Goldberg, Vanessa Miller, Natasha Beste, and others. Angela McBride's PEACE. LOVE. SPANDEX label will present her unbelievable fashion designs and comedians Terri Stearn, Amy Ruud, Heather Brewer and Heather Kozlakowski will take the stage throughout the night.
"The goal is not only to have an incredible party, but to have all of metro Detroit talking about women and women's issues, starting with the promotion of the event and hopefully long after the event is over", explained WDET's Amanda Le Claire. All the art and entertainment for the evening will be interactive to encourage community dialogue, and there will be plenty of surprises.
Women: A Night of Art and Culture is more than a night of music and fun. It's the beginning of a continual effort to highlight the talent of female artists and musicians in the Detroit area. Proceeds from the evening will also benefit the Michigan Woman's Foundation. The Michigan Women’s Foundation is a statewide non-profit empowering women and girls to realize their dreams of self-sufficiency and social equality resulting in a better society for all.
“We are very excited to be a part of this first-ever women’s evening, and hope that attendees walk away entertained, but also very informed about the current state of women’s issues,” says Carolyn Cassin, President & CEO of the Michigan Women’s Foundation.
“The dance floor will be ridiculously hyphy! Don’t forget to plant your biggest Valentine's smooch on someone special at midnight”, says Phred Wischusen, General Manger of the Crofoot and one of the events organizers.
