“Young Women, Strong Leaders," a series of regional conferences for college-aged women who may not already consider themselves leaders, is seeking mentors for the YWSL conference at Eastern Michigan University on Friday, March 19. This is an opportunity to empower young women to become leaders in their future careers and communities. In an informal setting, mentors will share the story of how they became leaders and, hopefully, become a possible resource for these young women as they begin their own journeys.
YWSL needs 25 women with a variety of backgrounds and experiences, in the following fields: Business, Science & Technology, Education, Government & Public Services and Non-Profit/Human Service Organization.
Mentors are asked to arrive by noon on Friday, March 19, for participation at Eagle Crest Marriot Conference Center, Ypsilanti, and finish at 4 p.m. Lunch is provided and no registration fee applies. Please bring 50 business cards to share with program participants.
This event is sponsored by: MI ACE Network, Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, North Central Michigan College, Michigan Women’s Commission, Michigan State University’s Women’s Resource Center, Michigan Department of Education, Office of Career & Technical Preparation and the U.S. Department of Labor, Women’s Bureau.
Interested mentors should contact Judy Karandjeff, Executive Director, Michigan Women’s Commission at (517) 241-2396 or karandjeffj@michigan.gov
