Troy’s Brenda Harger believes in COTS mission of helping the homeless. Her way of pitching in is to trade chocolate for clothing and donations at her business, delivering them to COTS.
The owner of Sarah’s Cake Decorating and Candy Supply is giving away a pound of famous Merckens chocolate in exchange for clothing and monetary donations. “I’ve found that chocolate motivates people,” Harger observes, “so I’ve made it my secret weapon for helping people in need this cold winter.”
Starting Monday, January 11, 2010, and ending Saturday, January 30, 2010, anyone who donates a minimum of $25 cash and/or children’s coats, blankets, gloves or scarves of like value, can take the items to Harger’s business and help homeless kids, ages infant to 17 years. In return, they'll receive a pound of chocolate.
COTS asks that these items be clean, and in good condition.
Donations should be taken to Sarah’s Cake Decorating and Candy Supplies, 5917 John R at Square Lake Rd., in the Emerald Lakes Plaza, in Troy. Store hours are 9:30 am – 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday and Thursdays, 9:30 am until 7 pm. For directions or further details, call 248-828-3430 or visit www.sarahscakesupplies.net.
