Michigan NOW endorses Bernero-Lawrence

The Michigan National Organization for Women has endorsed Virg Bernero and Brenda Lawrence for Governor and Lieutenant Governor in the Tuesday, November 2, General Election.

Michigan NOW has also endorsed Jocelyn Benson for Secretary of State, and endorsed or supported six candidates for judicial posts, 15 Senate candidates, 36 House candidates, and 20 county level candidates. In addition, the organization urges a "no" vote on the question of holding a Constitutional Convention.

“The Bernero-Lawrence team clearly has a platform more in line with the goals of Michigan NOW,” stated Michigan-NOW PAC Chair Renee Beeker. “Mayor Bernero has shown a great commitment to protecting women’s rights, including reproductive choice, throughout his government service and this campaign.

"His opponent would criminalize most abortions. Bernero’s opponent chose a running mate who has sponsored 20 bills Michigan NOW opposes and has even voted against contraception in emergency rooms for rape victims. We see the Bernero-Lawrence team as the most experienced candidates who will respect women’s rights, and are best prepared to lead our state to a brighter future.”

Michigan NOW is the largest multi-issue women’s rights organization in Michigan. Michigan
NOW PAC will be accepting candidate questionnaires through the whole election cycle. The
questionnaires and the updated list of endorsed and supported candidates can be found at its Web site: michnow.org/pac.
