Joy Gaines Friedler of Farmington received Honorable Mention in the Jane’s Stories 2010 Poetry Contest. Friedler was honored for her contribution, "At the Market in Akko."
The first place award and a $250 cash prize in the were given for “The Hospice Cat Walks into Room 16B,” by Ellen LaFleche of Northhampton, Massachusetts. LaFleche’s poem will be included in the upcoming anthology, Jane’s Stories IV. Christine Swanberg, author of Who Walks Among the Trees with Charity, judged the contest.
Second place winner was Claudia VanGerven of Boulder, Colorado, for her poem, “The Grand Staircase.” Additional Honorable Mentions went to Carol Canter, Evanston, Illinois, for "Water's Push Pull" and Katherine Riegel, Brandon, Florida, for "Manifesto".
Jane’s Stories Press Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to support the diverse voices of women in the publishing industry. The Jane’s Stories series of anthologies are available in bookstores and in libraries around the world.
