"This is a book about making and keeping friends." -- David Crumm, Friendship & Faith: The WISDOM of women creating alliances for peaceAs I read through every chapter of Friendship & Faith, a new collection of essays written by the members of Women's Interfaith Solutions for Dialogue and Outreach in Metro Detroit (WISDOM Detroit), I thought, "All of these women are Michigan women. How lucky are we?".
The 28 stories included in this easy-to-read collection are intensely personal, and all ring with hope for more peaceful, more loving relationships among people of all faiths. The authors are B'hai, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, but they agree the key to ending religious hatred among people is simply by getting to know one another as friends.
That's how WISDOM, which has sponsored interfaith experiences throughout metropolitan Detroit since 2006, was formed. Four women from different faith traditions found each other at "Reuniting the Children of Abraham," an interfaith event developed by Brenda Naomi Rosenberg, whose story is among those in Friendship & Faith.
Each in her own way, the WISDOM founders have committed their lives to fostering relationships with people of other faiths. In turn, their friendship inspired relationships among the women who share their own journeys in Friendship & Faith.

Friendship & Faith is volume three in a series that began with Interfaith Heroes I & II, written by Daniel Buttry and published by David Crumm Media, LLC. In his introduction, Crumm writes that the purpose of all three books is to inspire others to champion the cause, to become the next intefaith heroes. While some of the stories reflect extraordinary personal courage to overcome their fears, he notes, most center around everyday lives transformed by simple acts of friendship:
"...in this collection, you'll also be welcomed into living rooms, classrooms, hospital rooms and offices where ordinary people interact and make choices that you can make as well."
