Learn how to contribute to community through A Beautiful Me

A Beautiful Me invites all women over 18 years of age to an information session on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Romeo District Library - Graubner Branch, 65821 Van Dyke (just north of 30 Mile Rd) in Washington. Registration begins at 6:15 pm; the session will be held from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm.

Participants will learn how to strengthen their communities by hosting a workshop series, and how A Beautiful Me mentors and volunteers are personally rewarded as they impact their communities.

“We will share what A Beautiful Me is about and how, as a volunteer or a workshop series host, you will nurture young ladies to discover their self worth at a young age - not just stumble upon it at 40-plus years old,” said A Beautiful Me Founder Karen Palka. “As adult women volunteers, we each can make a difference as we reach the many young ladies throughout our state and country.”

“Girls today have it tough,” said A Beautiful Me mentor Debbie Majchrzak, “The media is consistently telling them what makes them beautiful and worthy. If a young lady could grasp where her true beauty lies, in her uniqueness that God gave her, she then becomes confident and empowered while positively impacting her school, her community, and the society with whom she lives and works.”

No-cost 4-part workshops, developed by A Beautiful Me, have been effectively reaching young ladies in Macomb, Oakland, Wayne, and St. Clair Counties. The current schedule includes five four-part workshops at eight Port Huron Area Elementary Schools during the 2010-2011 school year and one workshop series in September in Washington Township.
