Women's Exchange of Washtenaw to host events for women in business

The Women’s Exchange of Washtenaw (WXW), an organization developed for women growing successful companies in Michigan and the midwest, will present events in March and May designed to support women whose companies are in the growth stage.

As a woman business leader, are you worried that “being the boss” means you’ll be perceived as overbearing, domineering, or even dictatorial? "It's OK To Be The Boss," held Thursday, March 18, at The Polo Fields Golf and Country Club in Ann Arbor will feature three local business women who have learned to embrace their role as boss and are now leading their teams to success.

Panelists include:

• Terri Barlow, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Thomson-Shore, Inc.
• Megan Torrance, President at TorranceLearning
• Dr. Kay Woodiel, Director of Diversity & Community Involvement at Eastern Michigan University, Associate Professor, Eastern Michigan University

Their discussion will be followed by WXW's patented Exchange Sessions, where participants will talk about being the kind of boss that attracts and retains high performing employees.

The Polo Fields Golf and Country Club is located at 5200 Polo Fields Drive, Ann Arbor. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

WXW expects more than 300 attendees at its third WXW FORUM 10 - Now We’re Talking, on Friday, May 21, 8 a.m.-7 p.m., at Kensington Court in Ann Arbor. This dynamic, fun-filled, all-day forum for women business leaders provides an interactive and lively experience with regional speakers, workshops, breakout sessions, and networking activities.

Jump Start! intensive morning workshops include topics that include creating your dream business, charting your career path, strategic networking and social media. Workshops will be followed by a panel discussion with women business leaders:

The day continues with lunch and Keep It Going! workshops, on topics related to customer loyalty, having difficult conversations, sales, becoming a "guru", and social media for business. The event concludes with Exchange sessions, and a happy hour from 5-7 p.m.
