Detroit Mommies is among 14 U.S. blogs chosen to raise awareness for child hunger.
The bloggers have teamed up with ConAgra Foods and Gus O'Connor's to raise money for families in Metro Detroit. They'll hold an event at Gus O'Connor's on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, 7 p.m. that will raise funds for local families experiencing hunger. A percentage of the proceeds from purchases at Gus O'Connor's will go to "Feeding America," and there will be a 50/50 raffle with tickets for only $1 or 12 tickets for $10.
This event also draws attention the sad fact that one in six children goes to bed hungry.
Feeding America provides food through a nationwide network of member food banks to more than 37 million low-income people facing hunger in the United States, including more than 14 million children in all 50 states.
